Snaptu is a startup that makes apps for mobile phones. Specially, Snaptu has been busy as of late working with facebook and other online sites partners to launch slimmed-down mobile applications of their respective sites. Unlike other facebook mobile apps, which packs plenty of features in a format that's best used by smartphones, the apps that the company's developed in conjunction with snaptu are design to work across a larger variety of lower-powered devices.
To generate popularity around it's facebook app, Snaptu's partnerships with carriers like Telcel Mexico, Vodafone Romania, and Reliance India allowed the company to offer free access to it's facebook app for the first 90 days of its existence.
The acquisition is expected to close within a few weeks and Facebook will have more updates on Snaptu soon, and will be working hard to offer a richer and more advanced facebook app on every mobile phones.
